Musculoskeletal system diseases, work/sports-related injuries, field-specific physiotherapy evaluations, preventive physiotherapy approaches, and individualized physiotherapy applications are the main subjects of our department. Interventions aimed at promoting and maintenance of the health of the musculoskeletal system, enhancing performance and physical fitness level of elite or amateur athletes and healthy individuals at any age are carried out by our department. In our department, the structural characteristics and functions of the musculoskeletal system are also analysed using the technology-supported up-to-date physiotherapy methods.
Experienced and skilled lecturers of our department take active roles in undergraduate and graduate education and train physiotherapists who are experts in the field of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. We carry out a large number of national and international projects with an inter/multi-disciplinary working approach in our department. The results obtained from our projects contribute to science and public health.
In the Department of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, heat-light-hydrotherapy and electrotherapy applications, individualized exercise programs, manual therapy applications, preventive information and education are used to achieve the following aims:
Treating pain and other symptoms
Providing and maintaining correct biomechanical and postural alignment
Increasing or maintaining the range of motion of the joint
