Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapy
At Dokuz Eylül University, School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, Department of Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapy-Rehabilitation, it is aimed to increase the clinical practice experiences of students based on the theoretical knowledge, assessment and therapeutic approaches within the framework of cardiopulmonary physiotherapy and rehabilitation in individuals with heart-lung diseases and/or having risk factors for these diseases and also to enhance the ability of the students to follow-up scientific improvements related to the field. Educational program consists of different subjects such as risk factors for diseases, tests and treatment methods, exercise training, prevention methods, life style changes in patients with cardiac and respiratory diseases. In clinical practice training, physiotherapy and rehabilitation approaches including airway clearance techniques, aerobic exercises, strength and flexibility training for musculoskeletal system, respiratory muscle training and energy conservation techniques during activities of daily living are used. In Department of Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapy-Rehabilitation, education, treatment, research and project services are performed by specialized academic staff in acute and chronic cardiopulmonary diseases, surgical sciences, oncology, intensive care unit and pediatric heart-lung diseases.
